Split Leaf | Monstera Deliciosa | Tropical Tuesday

The Split Leaf may be my favorite plant. I jokingly say that’s because its the only plant I haven’t killed! It was one of the first plants I got for the shop and I was instantly in love! They are so beautiful and intriguing and fairly easy to care for!

Light: Split Leaf plants do not like it to bright or too dark! Keeping them in indirect light is the best practice.

Water: Let this plant dry out before watering again. I’ve noticed watering every week or so works well for my Monstera. Make sure to water the soil thoroughly but do not let the plant sit in water. Allow all the water to drain out completely. Yellowing and brown leaves mean your plant is being over watered. Crispy brown and yellow leaves may mean under watering. Curly leaves can mean underwatering as well.

Temperatures: These plants can grow indoors and prefer 70-75 degrees. They prefer humidity and enjoy a good misting every now and then.

Fertilizer: Feed your Monstera every month in the spring and summer. Do not fertilize in the winter.

Repotting: Though these plants grow quickly, you do not need to repot very often. About once every two years they can be planted in a pot 2-4 inches bigger.

Pruning: Split Leafs can grow very quickly. If it gets to big for your house you can prune and cut off leaves or divide up the plant and repot into other pots. Cut at the nodes.

Toxicity: This plant is poisonous when eaten in large quantities to people and pets.
